Marguerite and Tom Hackett have owned and operated Kiwi Down Under Farm since 1982. Set in the beautiful Gleniffer/Crossmaglen Valley only 20mins south of Coffs Harbour, the Hackett's began their organic adventure by growing and selling Kiwifruit commercially using organic and biodynamic practices.
With such a continual interest from the general public in their farm and farming practices Marguerite and Tom decided in 1992 to open their beautiful farm to tourism and established a restaurant on the farm educating and demonstrating the use of seasonal, quality organic produce from their farm to the plate in their very own restaurant. Having successfully received over 21 tourism awards for excellence, Marguerite and Tom closed their farm to the public dedicating their time to the farm and organic industry.
They continue to be farmers of kiwifruit plus a huge range of other produce including Tamarillos, Starfruit, avocadoes and much more. Kiwi Down Under supply the Aussie Market with magnificent Kiwifruit each year.
Re-opening their farm again to tourism, the Hackett's have opened a beautiful guest house named ‘Viola’. Viola has been designed as a place for regeneration of the soul and an escape from the pace of the ‘real world’.
The philosophy behind Kiwi Down Under Farm is that is it not just a farm but a lifestyle delivered by example, it is hoped that guests will leave with a greater knowledge of , and respect for the environment with thoughts on how they too can change it for the better. The Hackett family believe that farming should be a natural experience understanding and showing appreciation for all life on this planet.
We are so pleased that we can offer Lettuce customers with Kiwi Down Under Kiwifruit each season as well as some exotic fruit when available.
